Congrats Siskee!
It only seemed like yesterday that Siskee decided to move to Utah to study massage therapy and a year later, she's finally done. Sisca's parent's, Francey, and I all decided to head to Salt Lake City to attend her graduation. With only a few days to spend there, we made the most of our time and crammed as much stuff we could in, especially since it was Francey's first time out there. Within a couple of hours of arriving into SLC, it was time to get ready and head to her graduation. Compared to other graduation ceremonies, this had to be the loudest and most emotional graduations I've ever seen. You could definitely sense just how proud the audience was of their loved ones for accomplishing such an achievement. And yes, I'm guilty of screaming to the top of my lungs when Sisca received her certificate on stage.
Since it was still a work night, we decided to hold off on partying and just made dinner at home. Little did we know that Sisca had this all planned out and surprised us with some yummy kahlua pork. Yummy food and watching 13 Going on 30 was a perfect chill night.
Friday was spent working for most of the day until everyone was finished with their errands/outings (work, golf, sleep). Then it was the treat we all looked forward to (sounds pretty gross now that I think of it). Sisca decided to take us to world's first KFC in Midvale. Aside from being the first, it's also the only one that offers a KFC buffet. All you can eat of everything on their menu. To me, that was cool because that meant I could ask for a specific type of chicken (or processed whatever it is) and not feel guilty for not eating all the different stuff that came with your typical KFC meal. Yes, it sounds like an artery waiting to be clogged, but it's one of those things you have to do at least once in your life.
In half food coma, Sisca then takes us to the Olympic Park to show us the jumps that were made just for the Olympic games. Getting out of the car was absolutely frigid. We had just gotten into Park City, and it just happened to start snowing. For the rest of the afternoon we wandered downtown Park City and shopped the outlets. The whole time I kept thinking of how such a quaint little town as Park City could get completely bombarded with celebrities for the Sundance Film Festival.
As planned, we decided to celebrate that same night in downtown Salt Lake City at a bar/club that the local Utards picked. Apparently, altitude is supposed to give you a bigger buzz for some odd reason, it was taking a long time the liquor to kick in. Oh well. At least, it made me fall asleep pretty fast for the few hours we had before we took off for a morning flight back home.

Happy but Stressed
My closest (both in age and emotion) cousin to me, Sharon, announced that she's getting married real soon here in the States. She's never been here because she's been in Manila all her life. Our times together have been limited to the times I've been able to visit Manila growing up, with the most recent being last February when I was there for a wedding.
Just towards the end of last week, my uncle told me the news and also said I was in the wedding. The wedding, by the way, is on Nov. 20, leaving us less than a month to plan this whole shindig out. Hair, makeup, flowers, a dj, a reception place, her dress, our dresses, shoes, etc.. The list goes on.
Part of me is completely ecstatic. Since we were little, we always talked about how it would be so much better living in the same place, instead of always having to say goodbye and not knowing when we'd see each other again. 28 years later, and she's finally on her way. (Did I mention we're only 11 days apart in age?)Along with moving here, she's getting married. Double excitment! The other half of me can help but be stressed out, trying to help someone plan a wedding in such little time, especially since she's half way around the world right now.
What can I do though. I love my cousin and all I wish for is her complete happiness. She'll be the first cousin on my mom's side of the family getting married so it'll be a big deal. So with that, Congrats Sharon and Darryl!

bad tine.. I've been neglecting my blog. I think it's because of my new addiction to Katamari Damacy. I blame it all on Beeker for introducing it to me. But oooh it's so much fun!
See You Soon!

Election time's around the corner and I have yet to look through all these booklets I've received in the mail. Actually, I forgot I registered to vote this year. I've never gone through the process of voting. I just remember going with my grandmother when I was a little girl to a neighbor's garage and I'd wait while she disappeared for a while behind some curtain that only covered the top of her body. I always laughed because I only saw her knee high socks and part of a dress or skirt. I guess I was easily amused, thinking half her body somehow disappeared.
It's twenty years later and things have changed a bit from what I heard. I'm not sure how but I guess it's almost time to find out.

Hungover
After a event-filled weekend, I woke up with a lump in my tummy. Is there such thing as a food hangover? Last night, a bunch of us got together at my house for Alice & I's first attempt at a crabfest. In total, it was 7 large dungeoness crabs. Alice had made 3 of them with ginger, scallions and black bean while I had 4 of them made the 'Crustacean's' style (butter, garlic, cracked pepper). This morning, I woke up still full and stuck in food coma. Again, is there such thing as a food hangover?
